Becomming Octo-mom

So today was supposed to be a fairly innocent day. Brian and I went out for breakfast before attending our foster parent orientation at the Animal Foundation. After the quick slideshow presentation, the "Shelter Lady" asked if anyone would like to get their feet wet.. by taking home a mama and her litter TODAY. Against previous advice from Dog Foster Mom to make our first foster a short commitment, and although this was totally unexpected, and (materially) unprepared, Bri and I decided to take them home.

First off, these little guys were born yesterday, and they kind of look like little hamsters. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it makes me want to go buy all of them those little gerbil wheels. We were told that the mama liked to 'hide' her kittens with her body, and that she only seemed to have 3 kittens. Apparently, there was some miraculous conception going on, because when we counted, there was 5. We may need to double check the photo. Luckily, we only have one crybaby in the litter, I'm pretty sure it's the orange and white guy that's all sprawled out.

On the way home, we realized that we don't even know the mama's name! Brian was calling her Miss. Gosselin, which made me giggle a bit.

Needless to say, I'll be blogging a teeny bit more often. But as for now, I need to go SHOPPING!!
