Shelter Shuffle

So I know you guys might be tired of me whining about switching shelters, but I really think it would be better for us. Either way something NEEDS to change. We've kind of been letting Mama and babies out of the room (don't tell the shelter). Babies are confined to the upstairs, and Mama will usually come down and lay on the kitchen floor. Let me tell you, she is a super bitch. She hisses as anything that moves, growls, and scratched Franklin in the face (although this cannot be proven without a reasonable doubt). I can't enjoy watching TV or even have a mean without getting up to go check on Mama, every 5 minutes. My cats both hide in the laundry room for hours. It stresses me too much to let her out of the room, so I've quit letting them out of the room. On the other hand, her kittens are the sweetest things. They don't hiss or spit, and even get along with my cats.

I don't want to sacrifice the happiness of my household animals, but I don't want to quit trying at this point. I'm thinking about trying a litter of puppies next. I would take on kittens without their mothers, but I know bottle feeding is a serious responsibility, and I can't seem to remember to administer antibiotics at the moment. I really have no idea what I'm going to do.

  1. I think it is ok to leave momma and kitties confined to one room if that is what you have to do....as long as there is somewhere momma can rest without kittens hounding her :) That is what we have to do because my house cats HATES other cats :/ Puppies would be fun but a bigger mess I think than cats!

  2. It's so depressing to hear them paw at the door every night because they want out. It really breaks my heart, but I guess that's what I need to do..
